Mom Jeans, the name kinda got a bad wrap or at least it did when I was a kid but now that I am a mom I love the mom jeans. Some design characteristics that set the mom jean apart of other on trend denim styles are its high rise, forgiving fit around the bum and thighs and tapered leg. The pair pictured here are from American Eagle and their “short” style often fits me (5ft 2”) perfectly hitting me at the ankle.

I have played around with these jeans a little, pairing them with runners, Blundstones and chunky heels pictured here. Like so many of our favourite denim styles, the mom jean is versatile too. I am not ready to get rid of my skinny jeans but the forgiving fit of the mom jean is so so flattering on many body types and also feels good when your sitting on the floor (important as a mom of young children).

Whenever I share my passion for fashion or my wardrobe edits for a new season, I get a few messages on Instagram from friends requesting personal shopping and wardrobe dressing services. That could be something I offer in the future but for the time being I will share one huge strategy I make each season. I create a new Pinterest Board (FALL FASHION 2019) and then in Pinterest I search Fashion Trends 2019, as I scroll the outfits that appear I start pinning all my favourites to the board I created. Once I have a bunch pinned, I review all the looks on my board and begin to dissect them reviewing what pieces I already have and creating a list of key pieces I could add to my wardrobe to achieve a variety of the looks I would like to wear. This process allows me to continuously build a functional wardrobe that allows for many many on trend and classic outfits. It also helps me to only buy what I need. I truly love the process of curating my wardrobe.
