Is Your But Stopping You From Answering The Call Of God

Do you sense God calling you to serve and lead?

Does your response to Him continue to start with BUT and then you continue to rhyme off the reasons you are not qualified to serve and lead where God is calling you to?

What if the greatest reason God is calling you to that work, is because of your BUTS, those weaknesses will grow positively under the pressure of serving in that space and leading others to strengthen their weaknesses.

2 Corinthians 12:9-11

New International Version9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Leaders are not perfect, they are simply humble about their weaknesses and allow God to flow through their weakness and make them strong. Leadership requires a high level of accountability and accountability is required for sustainable change to take place. God will work through the leadership role He is calling you too and will grow the exact area you feel weak. The beauty of this scenario is that, as you serve the people in your community and help build them up in their weakness, they will be encouraged to know that God took your weakness and made you strong, this gives God all the glory and removes all the responsibility from you from trying to be perfect.

So we know perfection is not required for leadership so the next question to consider about your leadership calling is, “What are the leadership qualities that God does desire from us?”

As a leader you are simply following Jesus so your followership and obedience to God is the first characteristic God desires. Do you love the Lord and put Him first? Matthew 22:27

Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

Next He calls us to be obedient and this is faith. In our own desire for control, we want to have everything mapped out before we start but God is calling us to simply trust Him with the first step, starting. John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will obey what I command.”

He calls us to serve. Jesus came to serve us and wash our feet. Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

He calls up to the great commission and as leaders we have influence wherever we are sent to lead, we need more leaders in high influence places who are following Jesus.

So if God is calling you to lead and you keep responding with BUT……….. Remember this: you are not being called to perfection, you are being called to serve, God will help you in all your weakness because that is where He is strong, someone needs your story, the way God worked through you in your weakness, so go and serve where the Lord is leading you and start leading the life you were created to live.
