Jaime Hayes - HAL SOCIALS SPEAKER

I am so thrilled that Jaime said yes to being a speaker at HAL SOCIALS on Oct 3, 2020. I follow Helmet Free Life on Instagram so I am getting to know her through Instagram but when I have an opportunity to sit and chat with Jaime, I become so aware that this woman has so many layers. She has really cool stories that have contributed to the confidence she exudes today and I am so honoured she has decided to share them with all of us.

I have actually had Jaime’s responses to my interview questions for over a month now but I think its interesting that I am now finding the time to share her interview. As you will discover more as you read through what Jaime is sharing with us here, she finds joy and purpose in the simple things in life and I think we could all use a little encouragement in that department right now.

Jaime is a wife, mother and entrepreneur, you can get to know her on her Instagram here and hang out with her and Marnie on the Helmet Free Life Instagram here

1. We are very excited to learn more about your story. Could you share one thing that gives your life purpose in its current season?

The thing that gives my life purpose in my current season is to finally know my worth and break the chain of negativity that has surrounded me my whole life. I don’t want my kids to feel the way I did growing up.  I was always talked down to, never really encouraged to do the things I wanted to do, and felt like I had to try and be someone else to obtain any kind of approval.  I felt like I was never good enough no matter how hard I tried. It’s taken me almost 40 years to break the negative cycle that has been holding me back.  It feels so good to finally have my own voice and to feel confident enough to know my worth and stand up for myself.

2. Share a time when you experienced failure and what it taught you?

I fail all the time lol which is awesome cause without those failures I wouldn’t grow.  There isn’t one failure in particular that sticks out cause they have all taught me things.  I actually love the movie “Meet the Robinson’s” we have watched that movie as a family so many times I’ve lost count.  The main thing this movie emphasizes is failure.  The movies motto is “Keep Moving Forward” and that’s what I strive for.  No matter how many times I fail I have to start again and keep moving forward.

3. Share something about yourself that not very many people know.

Not too many people may know that I have no idea what I am doing with my life but I know I’m having so much fun trying to figure it out ;)

4. What is your current favourite TV Show?

I actually don’t watch many TV shows I am more of a movie junkie (if I have the time).

5. What do you love most about living in Sarnia Lambton?

The thing I love most about living in Sarnia is the people.  I really like being able to go out and see so many familiar faces.  I love how this community supports each other and I love that our little city is growing. I am super excited for all the great changes that are happening here.

6. What is the best advice you have ever received and who offered it to you?

The best advice that I have received is from my hubby.  He has taught me that kindness, positivity and honesty will win every time.  He has been my biggest role model (I am actually getting teary eyed writing this because I am just beyond grateful to have him by my side). He truly is my better half and he makes me better everyday.  Also, he is right kindness, positivity, honesty and staying grounded are the best things to strive for.

7. What are some goals you are working toward in 2020?

I try to not put to many goals on my plate for the year otherwise I find it to easy to get side tracked.  This year my focus is to do more with less and by that I mean I really want to try to be more aware of what I buy and what I waste.  I am loving the simpler things in life.  I want to minimize spending and try to focus more on necessities than wants as I am finding that half the things I have I don’t need.  I want to fill my soul with memories and fun as oppose to items.  Don’t get me wrong things are nice but I want to shift my spending this year into more family time and making moments count :)

8. What advice could you offer for a more purposeful year in 2020?

The advice that I would offer anyone for a more purposeful year is to just show up!  Show up everyday no matter how much you don’t want to.  The day that you don’t show up might be the day that something great could of happened.  We all have daily struggles and it might be easier to just stay home or say no and by continuing to make excuses or not show up is when things will continue to stay the same.  So if you want a more purposeful year just keep showing up and I am positive you’ll start to see a shift if what comes your way.

9. What is your favourite food?

My favourite food is Mexican!  Shocking I know since I hit up Taco Bell like all the time (Taco Bell really doesn’t count as Mexican food fyi).  But I mean real Mexican food.  Oh gosh I am getting hungry just thinking about it right now!  In the summers I make Mexican food on a regular basis.  If I could bring one thing to a deserted island it would be a lifetime supply of Mexican food lol.

10. What is your favourite sound?

My favourite sound is nature.  Anything nature I love!!  We go camping (yes in a tent) all the time and there is nothing better than sleeping outside and hearing nothing but nature.  I have my best sleeps when we are camping.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Jaime as much as I did. To ensure you don’t miss tickets to see Jaime speak in person at HAL SOCIALS on Oct 3, 2020, subscribe to my newsletter below. Event tickets are released to newsletter subscribers first.
