5 Ways To Promote Your Business On Social Media Today
Hi I am Heather, Social Media enthusiast, Influencer, Content Manager and Creator.
Welcome! I am so excited to share some social media basics with you to help you connect with your community online during this time. Dare I say it, our businesses may even thrive in this season as we can spend time on things we maybe did not have time for previously. If you own a physical business maybe social media was one of those items on your to do list that you wanted to spend time on but never actually had an opportunity to, until now.
And now, you have the time. Maybe you have had to close your physical location for the time being but you are trying to get creative selling products online. Or maybe, you want to offer your services online. Or maybe, you want to grow your online community so you can do all of these things.
I have been working as an Influencer for five years now and have organically grown my community to almost 6,000 on Instagram. While this number is not huge in the grand scheme of online followings, it can be powerful when we focus on relationships and make people the focus of our online sharing. Here are my tips for growing your online following, using social media to help your business thrive during social distancing and create meaningful relationships that will last.
Give Away All Your Knowledge For Free
You are the expert in your field. You may even take for granted how much you know about your industry. Others do not understand your profession the way you do so sharing everything you know presents you as the expert. This also creates trust with your community and gives them a reason to keep coming back to hang out with you. An example of this for myself is fashion and my ability to put together outfits. I assume many woman can do this the same way I can but I often have people ask me advice on how to put outfits together so I have started to really extract my thought process behind fashion and pulling that out for content I can share. You can do the same with your area of expertise.
Go Behind The Scenes And Keep It Real
Take people behind the scenes, show them what your everyday looks like, what are the tasks that are required in your profession that no one really talks about. In doing this, do not feel like you need to keep things perfect and polished. No ones life is perfect, especially right now, others want to know they are not alone in their imperfection and will be able to relate to you more when they see you are flawed.
It Is A Two Way Street
Social media is a two way street, you need to spend a dedicated amount of time interacting with others. Think of it as a real time networking event, you would never go to a real time networking event and just talk about yourself so do not do that on social media. Join other conversations, like their photos and comment on their posts.
Network Online
We can even network online by sharing other businesses. Share other local businesses you love, tell people why you love them, share your suppliers, your client’s businesses, it is sure to grow your community and build some beautiful relationships.
Take Advantage Of Video
Video is a fast growing tool on social media and all platforms currently love pushing videos within their platforms. Live is a great way to connect with people real time and little videos for fun or skill sharing, take people a little deeper, as it can be more personal.
